I am currently writing my Common App essay and am struggling to create one that really stands out. I have read this example and am just not sure that my topic is right or if I wrote it in an intriguing way. Does anyone know any tips for writing good Common App essay or where I can find someone to critique my essay? That would be so great.

I understand when they say it's important to be yourself. A concrete story or moment from your life that impacted you could be very helpful. Not that it has to be something large; show the growth or self-awareness you gained. I do something very different, though. I sit down and write all my ideas without worrying about structure. Having jotted everything down, I return and organize it into my outline. It makes the whole thing seem less stressful; sometimes you discover ideas that you couldn't have conceived if you'd started off by trying to do something very structured.
